Where would I put my work

If I put my work out there I would have to put a basic warning notification/message at the start of my animation, in order to allow those who are viewing to be pre-warned about its content.

I would put my work on websites such as Youtube and Vimeo and also some film/animation websites in order for it to get more attention.

Audience For Final Animation

The general audience for my FMP are:

  • Those who are older - 16+
  • Both Genders
  • Those that are interested in the genre of horror

Where I started and where I am now

  • Before this course I had never used digital techniques in order to create work, I did not know about a lot of animation types and studios/people, I did not know how much work is put into a small and short animation.

What I have achieved so far

  • 14th April - I have become more proficient with rotoscoping, gained better knowledge on time scale, how to use references to make my work better.
  •  21 February - How to use Anime Studio 9 to create effective animations, how to use research to benefit my work.

Feedback

I had a tutorial with staff over skype and here is my feedback:

  • Work more into my final animation
  • Make sure there is no black background
  • Put all relevant information about my FMP at the top of my blog (Name, Project Title, Link to final piece, Project Proposal, Bibliography, Timetable, Health & Safety and Glossary)
  • Check out Adobe Creative Cloud + Batch Processing (automate)
  • Add my rotoscoping practices
Reflective
  • Reflect more on my animations
  • Reflect on audience
Toolkit

  • Talk about what I've achieved so far
  • Evaluate where I started from and am now
  • Tools used to create each animation (Learning how to use different size brushes etc)
  • Screen shots of my process in editing (Can then reflect)

Final Animation Storyboard

This is my Final Animation Storyboard which is just the rough outline I worked to whilst I was animating certain pieces.

Final Animation

This is my final major project animation 1st draft.

Wake Up

I made this using Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 and Waicom Intous Graphics Tablet.

This is going to be the end of my animation as it shows the character waking back up.

Body

I made this using Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 and Waicoms Intous Graphics Tablet.

This is one of the animations that will be in my final animation. I wanted something to be directly reflective of the woman that you see falling asleep at the start of the animation, so that it shows that it's her nightmare.

Sleeping

I made this using Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 and Waicom Intous Graphics Tablet.

This is going to be the start of my final major project animation as it based on nightmares I thought the best way for it to begin is by showing a character going to sleep.

Bob Sabiston

Art Director, Programmer, Age 47-48, Born 1967 in United States

Creator of the Rotoshop software program for computer animation. Used his 2D/3D software to create short films such as ; Beat Dedication (1988), Grinning Evil Death (1990).

He developed his rotoscope for an animation contest sponsored by MTV in 1997.

Sabiston developed Rotoshop to make rotoscoping easier for artists by automating the interpolation of hand-drawn shapes and lines over video. However his software is not available for use outside of his company "Flat Black Films".

Sabiston also created Inchworm, a paint and animation program for the Nintendo DS and DSi.

Development regarding Rotoscoping

After researching how to do Rotoscoping I improved the more I used the Wacom Intous Graphics Tablet. Purely cause I had to get used to going along the lines and choosing which ones should be kept and left out or changed to how I wanted it. Rotoscoping onto Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 was very useful as the layers made it more comfortable on checking everything is moving in the correct direction without to many changes.

Sketchbook Notes

Creepy Smile

I made this using Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 and Wacom Intuos Graphics Tablet.

The reason for making this is it will be used in my final major project animation as part of the nightmare scenes. What I learnt from doing this is how to rotoscope facial expressions effectively.

This animation reflects the negative thought of getting old or losing your looks. Many people have nightmares that contain these ideas.

Creepy Smile Reference

I used this short clip I filmed as reference for the creepy smile, it made it easier to rotoscope having this to look at.

Skeleton Lady

I made this using Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 and Wacom Intous Graphics Tablet.

The reason for making this is it will be used in my final major project animation as part of the nightmare scenes. Doing this helped me learn what lines to pick within the rotoscope to make it most effective.

This animation reflects the thought that many people have of getting older.

Floating Hands

I made this using Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 and Wacom Intous Graphics Tablet.
I made this animation for my horror nightmare project because:

  • the change of the hands evokes confusion and fear over what the being is/the fact that it appears to not be human
  • the long nails evoke a sense of horror - cutting, slicing - violence
